Limerick Photographers Take the Honours at the PPAI Awards Posted on March 1st, 2010
Two Limerick photographers have taken the top honours in the prestigious Press Photographer of the Year Awards 2009.
Brian Gavin and Sean Curtin, both from Limerick agency Press 22 were presented with their awards at a ceremony in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin.
Sean Curtin was the first place winner in the sports features category for his image of local powerlifter Tommy Dillon who smashed the world record deadlifting 215kg in 2009 at the age of 66.
Brian Gavin’s image took first place in the news category for his picture of former Bishop of Limerick Dr Donal Murray.
Limerick photographer Noel Gavin from Allpix in Dublin was also a prizewinner in this category, taking the award for 3rd place.
