University Concert Hall is delighted to announce the return of award winning show group, Smackee, with the fantastic production, Phantom & The Musicals.

Following sell out performances at UCH in recent years, the show returns bigger and better than ever! While still featuring some old favourites such as Phantom of the Opera, The King and I, Les Miserables and Evita, there are also some spectacular new additions including hit songs from The Sound of Music, Chicago and Calamity Jane as well as other Roger & Hammerstein classics. Leon Fleisher has the most famous right hand in classical music - famous because for 30 years of his life it didn’t work! Hailed as “the pianistic find of the century” in this teens, he enjoyed a fifteen year period of worldwide acclaim in the 1950s and 60s, before a neurological disease lost him the use of his right hand.

X Factor phenomenon JEDWARD arrive at University Concert Hall just days after the record breaking X Factor Live Tour comes to an end.

John and Edward, who caused a sensation with their gravity defying quiffs and energetic performances on the TV series have just released their first single Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby), featuring 90s icon Vanilla Ice. The single went straight to No. 1 in the Irish Charts on downloads alone with the CD released in shops from 12 February. (more…)

The National Lottery Skyfest as part of the National St Patrick’s Festival 2010

The National Lottery Skyfest will light up the skies over Limerick!

King John’s Castle provides a stunning backdrop to this year’s breathtaking fireworks display where dazzling colours and explosive effects will be unleashed over one of Ireland’s most well-known and cherished treasures, the River Shannon.

The fireworks will be choreographed to an amazing soundtrack curated by 2FM’s Jenny Greene.

Pre-show activity, provided by Shannon Development, kicks off from 6pm and includes live bands, fire jugglers, face painters and much more.  As an exciting lead up to the main spectacle, St. Patrick’s Festival will present street performance group Arcanna who will wow the crowds in their upbeat unique style and open the National Lottery Skyfest in a thunderous spectacular fashion.

Day Long Fundraiser for Haiti in Limerick City

Limerick is looking forward to a spectacle of entertainment, colour and fun this Sunday, February 21st as the city’s musicians, chefs and performers get together to raise funds for the Irish Red Cross efforts in Haiti.

The major city centre even Hurt for Haiti will feature over five floors of music, food and fun will be hosted by Bentley’s, The Brazen Head and Isaac Taylor’s in O’Connell Street. All proceeds will be donated to The Irish Red Cross effort in Haiti.

The day long fundraiser event kicks off at 3pm. Children are especially welcome as there will be organised kids activities taking place in the afternoon and of course, the adults will be well catered for until the wee small hours. (more…)
